Located in the vibrant and expanding suburb of Chirn Park, this project involved the comprehensive renovation of a family’s recently purchased, aged home situated on a bustling street near Musgrave Street retail village. The homeowners, a family of four with teenage children, sought to transform the residence into a modern, functional sanctuary that accommodates their growing needs while offering a tranquil retreat from the lively neighborhood and street activity.

The renovation preserved the home’s original hardwood structure, while reimagining the interior through complete refurbishment and strategic extensions to the front and rear, that minimised impact into the rear yard, retaining open space. This approach maximized natural light, capturing the northern sun and sea breezes to create a comfortable and energy-efficient living environment.

Key features include a spacious, covered eastern-facing deck and an upper-level living area with elevated views, providing a perfect outdoor/indoor connection. Carefully considered sun shading and privacy screening strategies were integrated to enhance comfort during the sub-tropical summers of the Gold Coast, ensuring the home remains a cool, private oasis amidst the busy urban surroundings.

This project exemplifies sensitive renovation and extension design that respects existing architectural integrity while delivering a modern, family-friendly home tailored to the families lifestyle.
