Situated in the tranquil suburb of Parkwood on the Gold Coast, this innovative residential design was conceived for a family of five seeking a private sanctuary within a quiet cul-de-sac. The property, a subdivided parcel of a neighboring property, presented unique spatial challenges, including a limited footprint, irregular shape, and boundary easements.
Located in close proximity to the university, hospital, and golf course, and nestled within a densely developed neighborhood characterised by brick and tile dwellings, the client desired a retreat that was light on the ground and optimised natural light and airflow. Our responsive design elevates the home above neighboring structures, enhancing solar gain and breezes through strategic orientation and elevation.
The home features expressive skillion roofs and sustainable materials that align with the principles of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship, making it well-suited to the subtropical climate of Southeast Queensland. The design incorporates distinct living zones tailored for a growing family, providing flexibility and privacy.
This project exemplifies innovative architectural solutions that maximize small sites, are economically efficient, enhance climate responsiveness, and creates a serene family retreat within an established community.
