Airservices Australia provides critical support and emergency services to airports nationwide. In response to their diverse operational needs, the organisation engaged MAEVE to develop a flexible and scalable, fire and rescue station that can be efficiently deployed across various sites and adapt to changing requirements.
Leveraging innovative modular technologies and sustainable design practices, the concept will feature a prefabricated system that can allow the facility to change from a Category 8 to Category 10, accommodating different airport sizes, site conditions, and climatic considerations. The design accommodates both living quarters and operational spaces capable of supporting the heavy demands of a fire station, ensuring functionality, resilience, and efficiency.
The design process included extensive community consultation with fire crew and stakeholders to ensure the facility meets operational, cultural, and environmental needs.
Currently in the research and development phase, this innovative modular fire station concept is planned for rollout across multiple airports in the coming year, supporting Airservices Australia’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and flexible emergency response capacity.
